Trip To The Mountains, Part 3

Here we have several photos of some of the trees that were of interest.

One is a dead Red Spruce tree, we saw three similar trees, all dead. I know there must be some of these that are still alive, someplace in those mountains.

A small grove of Hawthorns and two very nice naturally dwarfed Hawthorns. The buds are breaking on them.

This is National Forest land and one needs permission from the Director of the forest to harvest a tree. I am working on that angle. It seems to be up to the individual director as to if or if not permission is granted. I know collectors in the Western part of the US do get permits to collect. I don't know if the folks in charge of this particular forest will issue a permit or not. I will find out.
