This looks more like dwarf myrtle. Myrtus Communis "compacta". The leaves look smaller and the shoots are different. My leaves are up to 2 inches long. How are the winters there? This plant can take some pretty cold weather. Down to the high twenties F. It will never be a strong grower in doors. This plant is native to the mediterranian and prefers the outdoors to thrive.

Wish you luck, Al

0 C. for a couple days would be OK but 0 C. prolonged or -15 C. is too cold and would require protection.

Good luck, Al

Today I did some work on the large scar. This scar is about 3.5 inches across. It is rather hard to tell what I have done here but the carving work penetrates over 3 inches into the trunk of the tree. More work will be done on the bottom of the carving to makeit more natural.

A better photo of the shari that extends from the carved out stump part of the cut will be better seen in a few months as it dries out.

I have included a photo of the canopy so far in its short life of two and a half years.

Cheers, Al

Mid summer branch refinement. Third batch of fertilizer applied and some dewiring and rewiring. Now I just sit back and prune the new stuff.

Next spring it gets it's first repot in two years. I can't wait to see how much rootage I have. It needs to sit about two inches lower in the pot and tweaked 5 degrees to the right next time.

Best regards, Al
