Red Maple?

This red maple is also on my property. It is lagre as well. I cleared this area of my property two seasons ago and left this because I wasn't sure I didn't want to move it somewhere else on my property as a landscape tree.

Does anyone think it's worth the effort of trying it as a large bonsai?

I have all the time I need to lift it.
I am prepared to prepare it over multiple seasons.

You will find, if you harvest it, that the trunk will rot away over a 2-4 year period and you will be left with nothing but a hand full of switches.

that's too bad. I was thinking Penjing. like a mini forest going up hill (up stump). Seems I saw a post in the last couple days that someone was using serious wood preserver like Thompsons. If I find it, I'll post link.

Cool stump, tho

This is what i had in mind. It was posted in Bonsai Today a while back. Penjing from Wang Huaishun. Karin Albert used it in the article. It's an Elm.
