bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

permission slips

Does anyone have a sample permission form they could post? It's always polite--not to mention professional--to have one handy when asking a stranger to grant permission for something.

Thanks--David

It's probably important to clarify what you are looking for. Is this a document signed by the property owner to prove to some other authority that you, the collector, have a right to be on the land, or is this the single page Digger's "I promise to treat your property with respect and leave it in the condition I found it, Scout's honor." or the fifteen page property owner's version that makes the collector liable for all sorts of things, or perhaps some combination of the three?

It is important to know what protections, assurances privileges and liberties the document is intended to provide, and to whom, and what the penalties are for noncompliance.

Regards,

Matt

I've gotten permission to dig from corp. owned property and private owners before, and verbal permission has always done the trick.

Is there a particular reason a written form would be needed? It is always my assumption that verbal permission already encompasses all the things Matt mentioned.

BTW, let me know if you are willing to pay a lawyer to draft something for you

cha-ching,
pootsie

I'm looking for examples of a consent form that the landowner would sign.

They're handy if a neighbor, law enforcement, relative, ect. challenges you while you are in the field.

Thanks--DR

You know, I believe there is a sample permission form in the back of one of Jerry Stowells books. American bonsai I believe the book is. I could be wrong though. I have quite a few old bonsai books with similar forms. If you have any old bonsai books or know someone who does maybe they can make a photocopy and post they...Come to think of it, why don't I do that? yeah, that's what I'll do. Give me a week or two...
