Nor Cal common hedge juniper usable material?
I searched but didn't find an answer even tho I'm sure this is a common newbie question..
I'm wondering if the species pictured below is worth trying to collect.. It's growing everywhere in our neighborhood. Is this San Jose juniper? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience. Steve

This juniper can be collected. You need to read up on how to do it. I'm the bad example. I had a juniper like this one and I pruned it back hard without leaving enough foliage. It died.

There are a lot of cultivar's to choose from but here's one possibility: Golden Star http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/...n-goldstar.html or Old Gold http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/...en-oldgold.html
