G'day Bruce...

Spectacular! Those rootballs ( 4-6" trunks?)...SIX months groundlayering...what can I say, but WOW!

But then, I remember spending 11 days in the rain forests of the North Coast of Kauaii...Kalalau...Honapau...about 30 years back...in November...in the middle of a drought...3" of rain for the month.

Best of luck with those incredible trees.

Pat

I would go tree like bud i am curious what your thoughts are?
any way they are lovely!!!!!!!!
Hans.

Hans, these trees won't accept too much interference from humans so "tree like" for sure.

Well, not 6 months for many of them but some take longer than others. The rootballs are more like 6-10". For instance #38505 trunk caliper is 8".

For some time, I have been eyeing off a gnarly old New Zealand Christmas Tree (Metrosideros excelsa) at a local gaden centre, with a view to turning it into Bonsai. So, maybe the next time I have some extra $$$...

Thanks, and keep us posted.

Fly.

Fly, the leaves of Pohutukawa are quite different but the other info is the same for this variety.
