Flamboyan Tree From Seed
When I was in the Dominican Republic 7 years ago I picked up a seed pod from the Beautiful Flamboyan Tree. It laid in a drawer until a few weeks ago and I decided to see if I could encourage the seed to sprout.
After about a month in the pot nothing happened in a heated bed. I then remembered that some times some seeds need to be scored to be able to spring forth out of the seed covering. I filed the seed willy nelly hoping that I wouldn't kill the poor things. I placed them under a heat lamp and I have never seen a seed come to life as quick as those Flamboyan trees! Do any of the Bonsai enthusiasts have an enterest in these beautiful trees. I have too many now. Let me know if you would like one or a seed: I have two or three seeds left. I have four beautiful little trees left also. I believe I could get a picture of them if that crazy Adobe cooperates with posting them. I am interested in any information on what is the best way to handle this tree. Can they remain in a small pot and do they eventually bloom and have a regular life cycle as a Bonsai My Email is dalewoods@hotmail.com |
