first collected tree.

ok everyone bear with me on this one but i just figured how to post pics so here's my story... Last June my folks were having some work done in their yard. One of the trees was gonna be dug up and tossed out but since they know i'd hate them if they actually threw out a good tree they calleed me over. The drive took about 6 minutes and here's what i got... you can see it took to the new home really well... i'll keep you posted on the progress...

That's the plan. I wanted to make sure i could actually get it to start budding. the pictures don't show the taper to it (I'll get a better pic up here later today. the new branchees are doing really well and i plan to use a branch about 2/3 of the way up the tree as the new leader. We're also in the process of moving from our townhome to a house with a yard for the dogs and of course my trees! I was thinking abotu throwing it back in the ground for a few years to get a better taper/thicker trunk. Thanks for the input though!

I would put it in a bigger pot to encourage new growth... Maybe it is too early for bonsai-pot...

I agree, but at the time that was the biggest pot i had. You think a 5 gallon nursery pot would be ok for this? And thanks for all the suggestions.
