Collecting Gum trees?

For those in Aussie land, when is the best time to collect Yamidori gums?? I have a nice source on private land (including seedling radiata and a few other bush species) and have no idea when i can dig. Most people would wait till early spring when they are shooting, but they seem to shoot randomly at any time of the year (I collect the new tips for my possums, I got two babies today, i have three now).

Also native pines any tips there? Again i can get seedling ones, just want to know when to dig.

Im also interested in collecting grass trees (Xanthorrhea's). I know they have very shallow root sytems that detest being disturbed, so if anyone has done it, gimme a yell.

I collect Eucalyptus November through to December ( Varies with variety). What do you call native pine. Most poeple outside Australia call Casuarina or allocasuarina Australian Pine but we call it oak. Our pine is called cypress pine (callitris ) and collecting is different for both.

I might be in my fifties but I dont no any thing about GRASS.
