Carpinus orientalis
I've collected this Carpinus in January. Second picture shows him in nature, first right after collection, and third after first (and heavy) styling. Tree started to grow very strong, I'll post a picture of it soon! I'm interested in your suggestions?

In your climate, when would you expect to see some growth of branches and leaves?

In my climate, trees start to grow in March-April, this year winter was very warm, and some trees started to grow in February! This Carpinus is growing since March.

Hi Aleksa, your tree was so beautiful, in a wild and natural kind of way. That's what attracted you to it in the first place right? The branches had so much interesting curves and movements which are impossible to reproduce by man. And it was already at the perfect height for a medium-sized bonsai. Your tree will still turn out to be a nice bonsai in the end, because it will grow back, but it will look like just another bonsai. I like the original character of the tree better. I think just a little bit of pruning to remove the worst of the crossing branches was all it needed. Good luck with it anyway.

I know that it looks like that on a picture, but this tree was not so perfect! It had long, long branches, with gnarled ends! I thought it would be better to remove them, and start forming new branches again!
