Camellia ...is it worth a bonsai
Just wondering on peoples thoughs if this could become a bonsai ? it has a good nebari, but the trunk is the problematice part
what do I do with it ...Could I carve it, but would it look attractive and which branches should I consider removing? it only cost me $20 AUS so I can have some fun!! I could always removethe rear branches and tilt it back in photo 43530 for example and then plant it for ages to heal the scars. What do you think?Jbhayman Last edited by jbhayman : 19-Nov-2006 at 04:17 AM. |

Do you have a photo fo the back? C. sasanqua is often preferred over japonica because it's twiggier with smaller leaves, but if you have a nice trunk, why not?
Regards, Matt

here you go a few other angles...I have not dug at the base of the tree at the back yet so I can not give the full details of its nebari at the back. For $20 AUS (thats about $12 US
) I am not going to complain about the price !Jbhayman Last edited by jbhayman : 19-Nov-2006 at 06:13 AM. |

I think it is mostly clay....it is all surface roots though so it will do well on the transplant. When dug out it had clay underneath and softer topsoil on the top so helped with nebari spread. I have had a futherlook at the nebari and it is awsome !!! Your pic is sort of what I was thinking as well...great minds think alike...some extra thoughts attatched..
