California Juniper Article Archive

This archive is by no means complete and anyone that wishes to place a link to a good article is free to do so. While I do not consider myself an expert in the field of collecting junipers, I do have some good experience and the photos to back up my claims. There are alot of misconceptions about how to collect this juniper and its aftercare.

It is my hope that before posting to a collection thread, the poster would have read at least two or three of these articles before posting. Many questions can be answered here and many myths about these plants can be cleared up here too.

Wow, up for a day, and no reply....hmm. I spent ALOT of time reading through these links, and just want to say thanks to Al for putting in all the time and effort to put these together. If you haven't read any of them, take a minute or two, and pull one up. Or we can go back to discussing if bonsai's fart

Well you may not consider yourself an expert bonsai1 at collecting but i do. Ive lived in california for all my life and since my time in bonsai never dug a tree up in fear it would die.

No guts no glory. Don't pass the opportunity to dig in one of the premier collecting states in the world.

Seems to me that in Cal you could easily find sites that are being cleared for housing or another shopping center and actually save some trees. A few years ago the wife and I were in Palm Springs and drove up in the mountains. There were Can Junis everywhere and many were being buldosed for building sites. She wouldn't let me grab a few as we were in her new Corvette

Thank you Al, first for wrighting and posting these articles. Also for compiling these in a convenient location. Very helpfull for us wanna be collectors.

I remember reading most of these over the last year. After spending some time rereading these, I see many areas that need refining in my attempts.

Thanks.
