Hi I know i am late on this one...


But I collect from oct/nov to march (this is my collecting time) and touch wood i never had any problems with my trees.. make sure you seal everything you cut with cut paste get as much root ball as possible and you should be fine... hope this helps, Lance..

Thanks Lance. It must be nice practicing bonsai in a fairly mild climate like Wales. As I said, my ground is usually frozen solid by January and stays that way until March, sometimes even April. That obviously reduces your chances of a successful dig, not to mention the difficulty dealing with temps that can fall to -20C or lower. We're having an extremely mild Winter hear on the East coast of the USA... probable record highs over the next few days, though it will get more seasonably cold next week. If the soil doesn't freeze solid, I will hopefully collect a few trees this month. Thanks again,
