Bonsai Outdoor Stands

I made some outdoor bonsai stands today. I call them "plinths". They are on a 5 foot redwood 4x4, and all made of redwood sticks. I took one to the nursery (thats how I ran into Rip) and donated one to the owner to get some feedback. I will post the frontal shot and then the top.

The top portion is made of 1 1/4" x 3/4" redwood. Spaced a little over a 1/4 inch apart for drainage.

As soon as I 'stuff"one, and put a plant on it, I'll post it.

Dang, Al - those are really, really nice. I would love to have something like those to display a few of my better trees! (Once I have those "better trees," that is...)

Great job.

Heck, put a cr@ppy tree on it, the great stand has got to kick it up a notch or two.

Very nice looking stands there Al. I wish I had the space to be able to use more than one in my garden. Unfortunately I only have a *bonsai* garden, 25x25 feet square.
also I've heard these *plinths* referred to as *monkey poles*.

Regards,

Al,

I just wanted to compliment you on your workmanship. I like the use of angles and bevels on the "head" of your "plinths".

My Dad was a wood worker and so I can recognize style.

Great Job!

Aloha,
Harold

Verry nice! I would buy one. Are you considering selling them or would you share the plans with the forum?

Is it mounted on a cross base or is it supposed to be sunk in concrete?

Stay tuned on the poles. I am sending just the top to Matt. He can work out the shipping and maybe we can come up with a price for just the top. You add your own post and concrete, base, bucket full of gravel, whatever. Stay tuned! Bonsaial
