then as I was reading this thread I realized my backyard had become a nursery and decided to do something about it. I am going to cut my collection by about 80 percent and use the area for a pool, gazeebo and a stone barbeque. Here is the first day when the construction crew began

I guess we have to develop a new "Peter Princilple" for Bonsai: The space alotted to the display of Bonsai decreases as fast as the collection increases!!!

Ouch, Lui, pleazzze reconsider. Some possibilities...

1.For the pool , run in the sprinklers

2. for the gazeebo, on of those really big chinese hats

3.Stone BBq, well... that's not a bad idea...yea keep the lst one, but above all

KEEP THE BONSAI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

except the big bald cypress, how much you want?

Lui, it is hard not to be impressed with your trees. The pictures you show are wonderful. As someone who is way to far away to attempt to talk you out of your trees I offer you this thought; sometimes we have trees that we have not yet built up an attachment to. Some we have only had for a short time and others just do not connect with us. If you have some of these, why not do the two for one or even three or four for one type replacement. Some Bonsai Nurseries will do this and I'm sure you might find individuals in the Bonsai Rich envirenment of your area.

Good luck and keep them pictures coming!

Jay

Hi Carl I dont know what the Peter Principle is but what you said after that is right on.
Bonsai Nut, very cool suggestions and I have actually work on my trees with the sprinklers on when the heat is up.
Now about keeping the bonsai I will keep about 40 which is still a lot in my opinion, For the cypress I got about 5 more left.
Jay thanks Im selling them for less then what they are worth so its about the same as 2 for 1 and a lot of these trees are really irreplaceable. Some of them were started from cuttings about 35 years ago.

Lui:
Peter Principle was originally a book:

You can also go to Google search and type in
"Peter Principle" in quotes.

Matt: I hope I spelled that correctly....
