Sure, as long as you do the interior walls of the house first!!! If a hurricane lasts that long, I probably won't have any bonsai left to paint. ![]() John

I'll have to think about that ;o) I do like painting and did get to paint one room in my new house. The wife must have liked it. She was so impressed that she went out and hired a painter for the rest of the house. |

Ron,
I'll pass on you painting I think!!! Serious question though. Have you (or ANYONE ELSE) had any experience with moving peach trees? In one of my pics you will see a small outbuilding (the one with the powerlines in the back) that has a peach tree near some of the bonsai benches. I absolutely slayed that tree this winter and the growth is nothing short of amazing. It is just too big to stay there, and I want to move it. I plan on cutting it back very hard again, and digging up as much root ball as I can (3' plus). Once I do that I plan on moving it to one of the sunniest areas in the back yard. Being it's a little colder here than in the "peach belt" I wonder if anyone knows when the best time to move it will be. It usually starts throwing blooms in very early March and you can count on a couple of hard frosts after that. Should I move it prior to blooming or wait for the leaves to start (or any other time)? I'd appreiciate some suggestions. If it doesn't make it I won't be too upset, but it is starting to produce a good amount of peaches. Thanks, John

FWIW I've not moved peaches, but I have moved plums. They seem prone to drop all their leaves if they have any. In my case the leaves grew back in about 3 weeks but the tree appeared distressed for the whole season. I'm moving my two plums again this year, but I'll wait until winter this time or early spring. My plums are bonsai though. I agree about the hard pruning, they are unbelievable - even more vigorous than chinese elm... Jerry Amsterdam

Thanks for the advice Jeremy. I'd have to think the two species are similar, even if the peach is less-hardy. I'm going to go through with the move this spring, hopefully it will be successful. Take care, John
