yellow juniper tree
I got a juniper bonzai for Hanukkah last year and it seemed to be doing well until about June. I went to Europe for 3 weeks and my husband didn't water it. Now it's turning yellow and no amount of watering seems to be reviving it. I tried feeding it once, but hesitated doing more, concerned about killing it outright.
Is there anything I can do ?? |

Re: yellow juniper tree
I'm afraid a yellow and dry juniper is a dead juniper. Actually it has probably been dead for a while and is just now showing the signs of it. They will stay green for a long time after the roots die, just like Christmas trees do. It's hard to say what did it in. The biggest mistake people make is trying to grow these inside the house.

NikiLee,
Don't feel bad. Maybe you got one a those annual type of Junipers. (Juniperus Chinensis "ripus offus" . They only last one year. Then he can get you a new one each year. Yeah, that's it, I'm pretty sure.

Re: yellow juniper tree
My juniper tree is also yellowing, and has been for some time. This is probably because we kept it indoors last winter on the awful advice of 1-800-FLOWERS. Now I know better; but the question is, what do do now that it's snowing outside here in Pittsburgh, and the poor juniper is indoors? Should I move it outside right away, as one bonsai-expert suggested? Should I put it in the chilly basement for a while? Should I give it up for lost? I believe it is still alive, inasmuch as it has grown a bit this last summer; though its inner parts are quite yellow.

Re: yellow juniper tree
I cold garage would be ideal. The basement would be better than in the house. Put it outside in late winter early spring.
