Re: worried about my firethorn.
I don't know what cultivar you have, but some pyracantha are only semi-evergreen and even evergreens do shed leaves from time to time. The stress of transplanting can bring that on.
The important thing to do is not to over react and over water it. If it's not outside at this time it should be! http://www.arborquest.com/SPdetail.cfm?sp=pycoaa Regards, Matt

YOU CAN NOT RUSH TIME

Re: worried about my firethorn.
Pills, I think Matt was saying not to over react. He didn't say all was OK. The Firethorn is under a bit of shock from the replant. Did you remove roots? Did you replace all the soil? Did you trim the foilage? All the above can and will effect the tree.
I've been there and done that... lost several trees by over reacting and for sure by over watering... listen to Matt!

Re: worried about my firethorn.
Pills.... if you pruned the roots, how much did you remove? Someone jump in here, but of what I know you should remove the same amount above ground that you remove below. ( take off 15 % of the roots ...then take off 15 % of thebranch/leafs). This is, I believe, because the tree has a balance between the two. By removing the roots you have reduced the amount of feeders for the above ground portion of the tree. Now if you only removed an extremely small amount of roots this is not necessary.

Re: worried about my firethorn.
looking at it this morning , it seems that over 1/3 of the foliage is shriveled and dying. i didn't prune that many roots. AAAAAHHHHHH i don't want to kill this one.. i really like it.
