Umbrella Tree Distress
I have an umbrella tree, have had it for about two years. The tree is a single trunk, about 6 inches tall, it is planted in a rectangle plastic training pot thats fairly deep, and is 8x10x3.5. All of a sudden, all the leaves fell off. They all slowly turned light green, then each one fell off. Took about a week. Now all that is left is a new branch that has grown out about halfway up the trunk. The branch tip are slowly turning black an appear to be drying up/pulling back. The tree was inside during the winter and was doing very well, watered regularly and kept in a warm sunny location.
There are no mites or anyting on the leaves, or weren't when it had leaves. I thought there might be root problems, but ti appears not and I am now watering it once a week with a diluted neem oil mix just in case. I am thinking I should cut the branches back beyond the balck tips and seal with cut paste. Any thoughts? Anyone? |
