Is it too late?

Please help! I have a Juniper p. nana and I think that he might be dying. I have had him for six months now and when I watered him today the water that drained out of him was a yellowy-brown colour. It also looks as though he is slightly srivelled, not considerably but just enough to worry me. Please help explain what could be wrong.

Re: Is it too late?

"Shriveled" is not one of those words we like to hear * Usually when a Juniper dies, *the foliage would take a turn first and go dull and then grey. * How is the foliage?

And we have to ask: Was the tree indoors or out, and do you own a cat or a dog?

Regards,

Matt

Re: Is it too late?

Is is in the sun room of my apartment. THe leaves are a green colour, not as bright as they used to be and slightly borwn at the beginning (if that makes sense). He got really badly sunburnt cause I left him in the direct sun so I thought that it was that, but now he is slightly wrinkly too. Enough info?

Re: Is it too late?

I don't think anyone can tell for sure. Hopefully the damage was confined to the foliage and the roots weren't cooked. You should know in a few weeks at most.

Not much you can do except keep it out of full sun until if/when it recuperates. Sometimes slipping the entire tree into a very large ziplock bag to make a mini-greenhouse that will hold the moisture in a bit and improve the trees odds. I use a wire coathanger to keep the bag upright a bit.

You definitely don't want to overwater it, though.

Regards,

Matt

Re: Is it too late?

I was also wondering what the funny coloured water was that came out the drain hole when I watered him. It did the same thing again when I watered him. Let me know what you think?
