seridium canker on leland cypress
Hi Yall,
I have a 5 year old leland cypress in training and I have noticed a quarter sized patch on the trunk which was bleeding profusely with red pitch, the spot is also very soft with soft areas on the perimiter of the infected area under good bark. I understand that removing the branch is the only cure for this however this is not an option because it is halfway up the trunk. The spot may be starting to creep up a nearby critical branch. I was wondering if I could cut the area out into good wood and hide the area by stripping the bark back below and above in a natural way and then treating with lime sulfur which should kill any remaining fungal spores in that area. Does anyone have any experience with this disease and using lime sulfur with the technique of cutting out the infection. Thanx |
