Root over Rock Ficus

Took a young ficus cutting and started a root over rock a couple years ago. Friend had a fit, so I gave it to him. Brought it back to me a few days ago almost dead. Took it out of the shallow bonsai pot and placed in a bulb pan to recover.

Looks like it hasn't been cared for real well and has had very little work done on it. Guess after it gets to feeling well, I'll prune it back pretty hard and try to do something with it. Mainly keep it away from him.

Hope this one comes back, keep us posted,...any chance you have a virt of how you see this one developing in the coming years.

Thanks, me too. No, haven't put much thought into it yet. Might even let it grow some to bulk up before any pruning to thicken the trunk some.

I'd let it go for at least a season to thicken up the whole tree but mainly to get some health back into the tree. Planting in a bigger deeper pot will definitely help. Good luck with it
