Yep Id say that was a pretty good guess, funny when I was looking up pests I couldnt find that one... hmmm... Looks like the best bet is to remove them by hand since only about 8 appear each day and hope they disapear!

Any other advice please let me know. my plant seems to be getting worse and worse every day

Aphids are a symptom of a larger problem. These are opportunistic pests. They attack weaker plants. Despite the "dirt" smell of the roots, I still suspect you have a root problem. Your soil sounds like part of the problem, that and too much watering. Indoor plants don't use as much water as outdoor plants, as the light and air circulation is much lower inside.

yes I admitted that I over watered it to begin with and it never seemed to recover. I always scratched away the surface of the soil and watered it when it was still slightly damp. This is what I read from my bonsai book. My roots look quite good compaired to other plants, however if you have any advice I would be glad to hear it as I need the advice. I found a group meeting in my area but I would have to wait until the second monday of the month thats if I am not working. So I need some advice, I would be happy to repot my plant with new soil as I know the soil that came with it is not advisable in the long term.

repotting and pruning away the dead roots will help. You should find some prepared bonsai soil via a reputable bonsai dealer to repot this.

See the doctor.

My best advise would be to take it to a good nursery, and have them tell you what you are dealing with, and the best approach to a fix. Kind of like me telling you to go have your spleen removed, due to an internet conversational diagnosis, I don't want to tell you that is or isn't the only answer and something else might be there. I don't recognize your spit and hoppers, because we don't have em here.

Best of Luck

Let us know what the results are, so we can all learn.

Washing it, Good

Could be just the answer, safe, cheap, and easy, just watch the watering, get some advice if you can. rock did have a good point, those little devils are like most of nature , preying on the weak.
Good Luck

Wooly aphids actually look like little white fuzzy shrimp or something. Or are those wooly aphids? They have distinct heads, tails and bodies but they are fuzzy white like a little piece of lint.

I spent about 20 minutes yesterday picking two wooly aphids, about two dozen little tiny black aphids, and one piece of scale off of a mame pomegranate.

One must be ever vigilant!!
