Need help for Bonsai

Please help! I have a golden cypress that has gone down hill I have had it for about a month, the leaves are turning brown and they seem very dry but are not falling out and there is even new growth in places. I have been watering on a regular basis(misting daily and submerging weekly to roots). It stays indoors and being in WA the sun is a rare sight so i have also purchased a grow light thinking that could be the problem. Any advice would be appreciated or is it to late
it was a gift from wife.
Thanks Clint

Re: Need help for Bonsai

Hi Clint,

I'm not sure what part of Washington you're in, but you can find temperature and forecasts on the weather feature of this forum. That Cypress really belongs outside. If the temperature gets in the teens or single digits, it would be time to look at bringing it in at night.

Check out the FAQ on this forum regarding watering and try to water when the tree needs it as opposed to a schedule.

Regards,

Matt

Re: Need help for Bonsai

Thanks I talked to the Bonsai Nursery where the tree came from and they said he needs to be outside also! ....oh I live in the puget sound so he should get all the water he needs and the temp never gets down in the teens. * *Thanks for the advice he is now outside enjoying the rain. Can you tell me what would be a good choice for an indoor bonsai??

Re: Need help for Bonsai

Ficus is a very common choice for indoor bonsai. Ficus benjamina is a common species you can learn more by going to the bonsaiTALK Links section and searching on INDOOR BONSAI

Matt
