Re: little white spots
Yes Malathion is very effective. *Mix it according to the instructions on the packaging and wear hand and eye protection. *Be sure to wash your hands well before eating, and avoid spraying it in windy conditions or anywhere around outdoor ponds as it is very toxic to fish and aquatic life.
You may need a repeat application in a few weeks depending on the stage of the insect at the time of spraying. Just to clarify - the Malathion is for the scale on Joao-Felipe's maple. It won't have any real effect on the blight discussed in the Cypress earlier in this same thread, except to remove the possible insect vectors that might have led to what is probably a fungal infection.
