Ligustrum Sinensis

I bought a Ligustrum Sinensis for a Christmas present.

Over the last couple of days the leaves have started to wilt. I've watered it and soil is moist.

I know nothing about Bonsai - but the person it's a present for does (but I can't ask him for obvious reasons!)

It looks like it's dying - any suggestions?

Thanks

Craig

Re: Ligustrum Sinensis

Hi Craig,

I don't know a great deal about Ligustrum, having had only one which I traded away at a club function after a couple of years. I do know that in some areas these trees can be deciduous, semi-deciduous or evergreen, so the behavior you're seeing might actually be normal. Even evergreen trees do need to shed a good portion of their leaves once a year to replace them with new.

Do be sure that you are watering properly. Even if the leaves have wilted or browned, don't water until the soil feels just barely moist to the touch.

If you can't post a picture, I'd suggest that you do enlist the help of the gift recipient, and ask him for some help with "your tree"
