Leaves Droping On Elms

My 4 Jacqueline Hillier elms are suddenly dropping a lot of leaves within the last week. What's up with that? The weather has dropped about 10* F in the last week here in Ohio. It has also been a little cloudy due to some good rain this week. I only water as needed, ( I use the chopstick methode ). My elms are in full sun, and get rotaded once a week. They are getting fish emulsion @ half strength every week. Now I have'nt fed them this week yet because it has been raining so much that I don,t want to water them just to feed them, and risk overwatering. Anyone have a clue? I must add that only a few of the leaves that are dopping are turning yellow. Most of them are still green.

Thanks!

it sounds like they just got too much water. I live in Florida, and we get some weeks where it rains for a week straight. My elms do the same thing during those 'frog stranglers'. They bounce back in days though.

elm

i've been told that elm respond to any trauma by dropping leaves... this means overwatering and even insecticides can do it.
