vynsane as Fred says this is a temporary effect and other than the tree growing there isn't really anything extra you can do but wait and do every thing as normal. Even finger pinching can result in browning tips or worse, last year I finger prunned to heavily on a juniper and lost half a branch as a consequence! But hopefully its nothing to bad and nothing to be to concerned about. What is good however, is that you are paying attention to your tree and were onto something as soon as you noticed a differnce. Oh, and just for the record I use tomato feed for fertiliser and find it works great (just once a week between April - end of september).

Jonny.

What you can do is cut or pluck out the brown tips, leaving viable terminal buds.

The part to cut out is lightly highlighted. The terminal buds are the ones that appear next to them. If you crush needles on the terminal buds in the process, you'll have the same problem, though.

The ideal tool for this is a narrow tool with a long reach and pointed tips, like the JR-1164 Satsuki Shear or the JR-1188 Intermediate Twig Shear on the same page.

The extended reach will let you poke into dense foliage, and the sharp tips will let you cut between close buds.
