Green Mound Woes

I have a Green Mound Juniper. It seems to be dying...a bit anyway.
Nothing is different from last year (this is year 2 with it). Same amount of sun, water, etc.

Checking it out yesterday I discovered that a lot of growth was brown/brittle.
There's is a great amount of new/healthy growth so I'm not sure what to make of it.

Sorry I am unable to post a pic at the moment.
But if there's any ideas, thought, so on-please fire away.

Thank you.

hey untothee,
Not knowing if you did any hard pruning etc on the tree and without a picture im only guessing but if you havent done anything different and if the temperature has been simular to last year without big fluctuations it maybe a pest issue, particulally spidermites.
Id suggest getting some white paper put it under some branches and give them a little tap a few times, if little specs fall out and they start moving around thats your problem. If not then maybe some other members will have ideas?

Forgot to add. If it is spidermite check out my posting in pests about shimpaku. The recipe i got Was great and did the trick. Good Luck and try to get a picture up.

Noah...untothee...

Was that Carl's? If so, glad it worked...

CARL’S SOAP SOLUTION!

INGREDIENTS
Water
Dish Detergent
Rubbing Alcohol

DIRECTIONS
Fill a gallon jug with water and add one (1) or two (2) tablespoons of dishwashing detergent and one (1) tablespoon of vegetable oil (or Neem oil). Shake up the gallon jug to mix the ingredients.
Fill this solution from the gallon bottle into a spray bottle and just before using add 1 to 2 two caps full (from the rubbing alcohol bottle) of rubbing alcohol and spray immediately. If you do not use the full bottle of spray, I suggest the next time you are going to use the soap/alcohol solution add the same amount of rubbing alcohol again, since the alcohol will evaporate. I store this soap/oil solution in the gallon jug for months on end. It does not seem to go bad.
Spray on plants covering all leaf and stem surfaces. You may have to spray from three to four times with intervals of three days. I have eliminated almost any kind of pest that has attacked my trees, including scale.
I do not wash off the spray and have seen no adverse reaction to the trees from this mixture.

Carl L. Rosner

IT WORKS FOR ME!

Pat

That seems to be the issue. Also have other pests on other trees.
I'll give the soap solution a try.

Thanks.

When was the last time this tree was repotted? I have found that Procumbens Juniper must be transplanted regularly, like once every three years. If you don't do this it has been my experience that you will lose your tree.

Repotted earlier this year.
I didn't see many, hardly any, spider mites but there was a few little webs here and there. Mostly going from my Green Mound to Myrtle to Chinese Elm.
These three appear to be the only trees affected and the only ones with some webbing on them. Everything else is good.
Soap solution tomorrow.
We'll see how it goes.

Thank you.

Soap solution appeared to work out. I've noticed some webs now on my Ficus.
Green Mound is suffering some. Pale green in color vs. the brilliant green earlier this year.

Thanks.
