Ficus Leaves turning red

Sorry, but I can't give pics, no camera, but I have a ficus nerifolia indoors that's been moved to a new spot in the past week; my watering is probably awful, I water it when the soil feels moist instead of wet. Most leaves are green, a few are yellowish (maybe 10 or so), and some newly emerging leaves are reddish in color. The yellow leaves I attribute to the change in position, but why are some of my new leaves turning reddish? maybe 5 or so of them are red on my whole plant.

thanks alot for helping a newbie!!

Xmacro:

While that can be disturbing to a newbie, red-tinged growth on a ficus is a sure sign of vibrant health. You are doing everything right if you see this.

I believe that the reason has to do with leaf-growth outpacing chlorophyl production, but I could be wrong. Either way, it's a good good thing.

woohoo!! thanks!! one more quesion: I really don't like the pot it came in (all crack and such), and I'm currently making a new pot for it out of clay (which will be fired and ready in two weeks or so); would that be a good time to repot, provided my leaves stay on? This little thing is gonna stay indoors year round.

Any time a ficus is showing strong growth it is OK to repot.
