Falling Leaves - Because Of Dormancy Or Poor Health?

I think maybe the Elm is just a little confused.

If I hear what your saying correctly, you have decided to keep the tree indoors? We are at the time of the year when the days are at their shortest and dormancy sets in. Leaves will fall. Do you have somewhere you could keep the hardy trees at or near freezing? That's what I do. They loose their leaves just as they do outside and then rest and resume growth in the Spring.
