Dwarf Honeysuckle Not Looking Very Good
My Dwarf Honeysuckle has developed a strange problem. During the last week and a half, we have had a lot of storms with strong winds, so the trees that are normally kept right at the front of the porch had to be moved back against the wall of my house for wind protection. These trees (including the honeysuckle) are in pretty strong sunlight all day except for a couple of hours during the hottest part of the afternoon, and watered daily. I am having no pest problems, or any problems to deal with for that matter. The honeysuckle has been growing vigorously all spring and summer, with very dense, compact foliage. After I had the trees moved back near the house in less light, I began to notice that the innermost foliage had begun to turn brown and die. I was able to move the trees back to their original places in strong light after only maybe four days, but the foliage still continues to die. I put the tree in the strongest light of any place on the porch, this tree can take direct hot sun, but the foliage is still dying. It is definitely dying in a pattern, from the inside out. The very top layer of leaves are still green, and the branches that have lost their leaves are still living. I dealt with something similar to this in a Chinese Privet, but it recovered once I got it in bright light. Do you think that this short period of time in lower light could have caused such a severe reaction? I wouldn't think that the problem could be in the roots, but I could check. I don't see any pests. Suggestions??

dogs and cats
We have a nice
mix of stray and tame dogs, stray and tame cats. A new male cat has been living on my porch for the last few weeks as well, but I haven't seen him take any interest in the trees, and all kinds of dogs like to get on the porch to eat the cat food. |

Are you suggesting that the cats or dogs urinated on them?
