P-H, as has already been mentioned, it is highly likely that your tree is dead. That's the bad news. The good news is that its already Spring there in Sunny California and all the nurseries, including the big-box bargain lots (K-Mart, Lowes, etc.), will soon, if not already, be loaded with terrific material in 1 Gallon containers and up that are much less expensive than the tree you purchased and offer much better starting points for bonsai. If you can get yourself into a club, you will find that the bonsaists in your area are agog with activity now, including helping beginners select new material and begin the many fascinating processes neede to create new bonsai from it. There are a number of great clubs in your area that would welcome an enthusiastic beginner like yourself with open arms. A little searching on the internet should locate them.
Good luck, Fred |

Same thing happened to me awhile back, Post. But i have a questions for you. What did you use to prune it? Scissors?
If you did than that might be your problem. If you didnt than its some other problem and we're both lost. Did the tips that you pruned turn brown? You see i had a juniper that i pruned with scissors and the same thing happened, the foliage got hard and dry but stayed green and fell off when it was touched. Now, when you prune a juniper, you should ALWAYS prune by pinching out the buds, pinching, pinching, because i believe junipers have some kind of bad reaction to pruning with scissors. Now i could be ignorant and just in denial that i killed it somehow! As jay would say thats my 2 cents Kevin (P.S. this was my 50th post so bear with me, now i can put up a custom thing under my name)
