Oops! Dead White Pine

I think my White Pine is dead. All the needles save a few at the ends of three or four branches are brown. Can the tree hang on with just a few small tufts of green needles or is it toast? My inclination is to retire the tree, but if it can be revived I will try.

It doesn't sound good, but if there is green there is possibility. Without seeing a picture I couldn't tell you to abandon it. I would say to continue watering it. With a white pine when the branches are dead they get that orange peel texture. It may be too late for this one.

Pines can be pretty touchy concerning watering. At this point bright, open shade and watering as the soil begins to dry is the best recommendation I can make.

Pines are touchy concerning watering, and can respond to overwatering with root rot.

Good luck,

Matt

I have a pine that has been dry for the past two month except for four bushes of pine needles that are green.

Tell me I have a 9 year old Firethorne that looks dead. The bark and whole tree is dried out.Is there any way to bring it back to life?

Sorry, but no, if it's dead it's dead.

Regards,

Matt
