I'd say it was just the shock of repotting. Just pick off any dead leaves and new shoots will come through soon. I would not repot for a long time and when you do repot, cut the top back as much as you cut the root ball back. Also securing the plant to the pot with garden tape or wire(aluminum or copper, never steel!) will keep the rosemay stable. For now, the best thing you can do is leave it be and give it a day where you let it dry out, precaution against wet feet.
With rosemary, I am never to sure with what to do, I am not an expert in the species, but when I repot I follow the foliage mass to root ball mass rule, use a good free draining soil mix (this is extremely important, with roemary, a little more organic material is acceptable) and when leaves fall off, its not the end of the world, shake and wait. You need to be worried when branches or shoots wilt or shrivle. |

Thanks for the pointers, one of the plants is lookin a little troubled, not the one pictured here though. I think I let it stay too dry. We'll see how it bounces back.
Right now they are both in shallow pots, which was a risky choice I made when I first transplanted them. They will be well suited for a smaller pot when the time comes. These are probably the best looking 'trees' in my collection due to the bark texture and abundant nebari. Still looking forward to thier futures! |

Back with pics!
I still have only photographed the original plant - the other does not photograph well as I have it in a deep pot and the trunk is about 6 inches below the rim of the pot - it's only about half full. So the blooming is done for this part of the season, the leaves look like they are doing well. I originally secured the rosemary in the pot by using bamboo sticks around the trunk to keep it from moving too much. They are still there. Here's the present 'front': ![]() Here is a closeup of the trunk, rotated about 70 degrees to the right: ![]() So that's how she looks at this point. I have no idea what I am going to do with them yet, just letting them grow for now. If there are any suggestions out there, I'd love to hear them. Or if there are any good species specific pages on this that I may have missed, feel free to drop a link... ![]() Last edited by Kylezo : 1 Week Ago at 10:22 PM. Reason: pictures were too big |
