Question Chamaecyparis pisifera question

I recently picked up a goregous looking boulevard from a local dealer and it is thriving great....however we have had alot of rain here lately and being fairly new to bonsai im concerned....the trunk starting at the bottom and rising about half way up has turned a dark black/brown and has a very moist feel to the touch. i am not sure if this is normal witht he species getting water or too much water but if i dont water it for a day or so the trunk dries back out and looks normal again and then as soon as it is heavily watered it does it again... my question is is this normal or is it a concern?... Sean
