Brown needles
I have recently purchased two bonzai trees in various areas the needles are turning brown. We have been keeping them inside but we were told they would be fine as long as they were in a well lit area. We water them every day until water comes out of the drain hole in bottom of pot. The other question I have is we live in Oklahoma which the temperatures range from 5 to 109 degrees, at what temperature is it safe for these trees outdoors? What could we be experiencing on the browning of the plant needles? I would love for these plants not to die. I have some digital pictures of what they look like but do not know how to post them. Thank for any info on my problems.

You need to get those pix posted so someone can tell if you have a tropical or deciduous tree. Try looking in the FAQ section for help. Stop watering every day! Only water when the soil is nearly dry.
The problem is, browning needles may be a sign that the tree is already a "finished bonsai" Good Luck |

With plants, brown foliage=dead foliage. If the tree is evergreen (needled foliage suggests that), the tree is likely lost. A picture would help to confirm its condition.

Unfortuneately the given instruction for care are bad for a lot of trees, and it sounds like a juniper, which don't do very well at all inside, and if there is "dirt" in the pot, junipers will not do well( reads - probably die) if watered to saturation every day.
don't be discouraged this has happened to a lot of people, if you can put up some pics, or can you ID the trees, and give more detail about them (ie soil type, more description of the bad needles) you might get some better info..

When you speak about needles? i presume they are Junipers or other sorts of pine. They should be outside all the time, as far as watering every day !! That is waaaaaay to much water, i think you have got root rot, but we need a pic. of them so we can see what you have, before you will get an answer. Once we find out what they are, the next thing would be to have a look at the roots, brown and soggy too late. Cheers. |

While this is true most of the time, in some places (such as here in the dry season, twice a day is only just enough to prevent the "soil" from being baked like a rock.
