Ants In Pot

HI!

I collected a fir from a forest a few weeks ago, and potted it. It was just fine but now the pot is full of ants. They live in our courtyard but they haven't bothered me before. Any problems haven't appeared yeat, but I think that the tree woun't feel good, because they are digging their holes. I tried to drown them at putting the container into water for couple of hours they were out few days, but they came back although I chanced the place. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I would try and drown them for a day
if it dosent work try some ant repelent or killer it shouldn't harm the tree

Where there are ants there are usually aphids. I have had this before and I used strong jets of water from a hose to dislodge the aphids and then had to do a full repot and wash out the roots as the ants had created a nest in the soil. The juniper is still alive however just recently I discovered more ants on it. Looks like I have to do this again. It has been probably 2 years since the first time I had the ants problem.

Also where there are ants there are scale insects (use white oil)
