Acer Palmatum Problem

Hi to all,
I have an Acer Palmatum, for 2 months now and after I got it has never shown any sign of growing or development. It has 2 leafs and that is all. The leafs are the same as 2 months ago, no new leaf appearing. Has anyone an idea what is the problem?

This is for all 3 of you, What where and how, pictures would help too. If you guys look at what you wrote, you gave us next to nothing to work with to help you. Any reading of previuos threads here says you need to give us some basic info, so we can give you any answers worthwile.

First thing first, and this is a guess but all of you should have them outside not indoors, fertilizing isn't going to give you anything noticable in a few weeks.

Richy how big is you tree are we talking seedling with 2 leaves or an older branched tree with 2 leaves, what are it's living conditions, ie light watering routine, whats the soil like??

Jonathan, did you just get this tree, did you over winter it and how?? Has it been outside for the winter, and have the other trees around you begun to bud /leaf out yet??

Steven did you disturb the roots when repotting, what kind of soil, is you soil wet

Hope these are being kept outside, think maple how many grow inside homes.

Your turns now, it might be better to have your own threads so that pictures, conditions, and answers go to the proper trees.

By the way it will also be helpfull for you to fill in the user info telling us more about your growing conditions, as well as spending some time reading threads and articles here on the site, and a few others, there are a lot of already anwered questions that you guys have access to and will save you the time waiting for replies, not to mention questions you don't even realize you have yet.

O yea, welcome to the world of Bonsai, Enjoy.

Hey Steven,

its really the wrong time of the year for us in SA with regards to the acer palmatum... i also have a few. You have to be supremely carefull with palmatums in our harsh sunlight, one day in full sunlight can cause the leaves to burn and drop. Sometimes only appearing again in july...

Hope this helps,
Fellow SA bonsai enthusiast
Andy
