What does the recent bonsaifarmtv vote prove?

A recent vote was tallied for several bonsai-related websites and it appears two French sites finished 1 and 2 (parlonbonsai 31.4% and edgbonsai 30.8% respectively). bonsaiTALK finished in third with 11.5% of the vote.

Please vote in the attached poll to voice your opinion (Freedom of Speech notwithstanding) of what exactly these figures mean. One option is "other". If you choose to vote "other", please follow-up with a post that specifically discusses your opinion.

I chose other, to me these results mean only that more people in one place knew about the poll than in others. Simply put.

Not much at all really John, is my thoughts

Considering the poll was open for about 35 days, and there were only 8 votes in it (amongst the French forums), divide these by the fact that you could vote every 24 hours gives the following possibilities......

1300 total votes/35 days
= 37.14 votes per day average

Considering other forums only came into the "race" late, you could say that only 30 french votors actually polled.

Or: there are really 608 votors who did vote just once for either side?

In truth, we will never know and the real active figure could be anywhere between the 30 and 608.

Either way, it has not advanced my appreciation of Bonsai, but has made me realise the French are far better at languages than most and obviously frequent more English speaking forums than we do French.

Regards,
Ian.

I voted other. As to the choices given in this poll I would have to say none of the above. In reality the national poll in question was not about Bonsai Talk.com and I find there to be a bit of arrogance to put Bonsai Talk into the equation for this poll. The assumption that the members of this forum did not vote is making the assumption that if they did vote they would certainly have voted for Bonsai Talk.com. It seems to me that we had a national election where in a lot of assumptions were made and the results were disappointing concerning those assumptions.

But it sure directed a lot of traffic to Lindsays site. A good publicity stunt if ever I saw one.

I voted 'Other': all Lindsay's poll proved was that bonsaiTALK received 11.5% of the vote. Trying to infer anything beyond that is pointless and rather un-interesting. What I am interested in is how this poll will be interpreted, and how it relates to our Bonsai practices (if at all). Maybe we should conduct a poll to sort it out...

Other as in other than this post I have no opinion. I mean who really cares? What does this have to do with bonsai? Do we all have a tree or trees that need some form of attention or contemplation?

Lindsay is my hero for the somewhat thankless work he does to create what has to be the most polished information video series out there on all aspects of bonsai in countries I may never see. If he got some traffic that helped him...how? It chewed up his bandwidth somewhat so he payed to have us give an opinion. I would love to purchase something from Lindsay so I could at least feel I am supporting him.

So in hindsight don't get out and vote - get out and work on those trees.
