You are mistaken. I addressed your misapplied observation previously - in my reply to Ron.

Then let me be more specific. I find it absurd that because ABS is lacking in quality work for whichever reason that has been presented in this thread (something I agree with so much that I dropped my subscription 2 years ago) that you refuse to submit a quality article, however you continue to show your approval by supporting it financially?

i can understand andy's frustration........the abs journal is a competetor for your dollars..as a member(?) and a subscribor,he has evey right to expect more....as a competitor he has no obligation to supply it with articles which could be going into his own enterprise

I think you just hit the nail on the head.
And this is a free way for him to slam his competitors.
Problem is that they arent trying to compete with him. It is a bonsai society magazine. Written by members for members.
Andy is in it for the bucks. Not that I blame him, a living must be made. I just disagree with his methods.

Ron, I am sorry that you believe that. If I were "in it" for the bucks, I'd be doing something other than operating a publication that costs me money - it is a financial drain, not a boon, and I do it because I love to do it. Period. Yes, a living must be made and I do that in other ways - so that I can help support my family and continue to do what I love.

Yes, I view other bonsai publications as "competitors" because I'm competing for heats and minds, not money. Bonsai Today magazine (print) will ever have the bucks - there is only one winner and he's it. More marketshare gives me more ability to bring quality - that's it. It will certainly not give me a living. I'm trying to change paradigms. I'm trying to build something on the future, based on quality and artistry - something I can hope to be proud of.

I find it odd that in a discussion where the issue is whether or not it is acceptable for a bonsai publication to disseminate bad bonsai advice and technique, you find the need to change it around into an ad hominem attack. I hope that you will soon get over whatever it is that you're suffering from and take your personal cr@p elsewhere. Thanks.

Andy
