I am amazed nearly every time I come to this site. It seems almost impossible for a simple thought to be posted without becoming infinitely crystallized in a mercurial shatter-web of multitudinous individualisms. Guess that's why I keep coming back.
Personally, I don't have much time or much money for my bonsai/penjing addiction, so I have settled on collecting trees from the wild, from friends yards, and from public places (always by permission). I always have my eyes open for trees with interesting shapes, good roots, excellent bark textures, and that would require only the training conditions I am able to give. This after about ten years of study and practice. I do not expect to ever submit a tree in a international or even national competition, but I love the work of others who do, such as Walter. |

Saurak,
I went back and looked at some of your posts. Have you ever posted any tree? More to the point, have you actually gone to Walter Pall's blog and looked at the work he does? And do you think he claims to have started at the level he is now? It's no wonder he no longer has time for this or most web forums. Life is too short to answer to someone whose highest investment in bonsai material is $10 for a nursery tree. Now I'm no Walter, but although I don't always like his trees, or agree with his viewpoints, I am certainly mindful of the fact that he has a great talent, a tremendous amount more knowledge than I do, and a great deal more invested in the art than I do. So disagree if you like. Just show some respect. |

We have all heard of Wally P. So have we heard of your master? Do we want too? For that matter do we really want to hear from you again? |
