Hi skm, I think we all agreed to disagree

All the great names in Bonsai world have a fuul measure of this design in their collection and books. Yet is the design Technically appropriate and natural for tropicals ?
Have you seen a full cascade styled tropical,(excluding the buttonwood) in any of those books? I think that answers your question. IMO if you want to grow a ficus or other tropical in the cascade style that is certainly ok. I think what matters most is that you like it. But if you are referring to it being acceptable in the bonsai tradition I would not think so. Just my opinion but I am a novice so take it with a shaker of salt.

Hi

Hu Yunhua has a casading Shefflera in his book Penjing-The Art Of Miniature Gardens, and the thing is "BAD" ...as in "GOOD".I personally see no prob with using tropicals for the cascade look, just don't make them look like a cascading pine right?
