Re: Spring Show Comments

Matt,

I love your maple. Do you have any pictures from the beginning of it's bonsai life ? If this is what you achieved with cuts and grafts then hat off !! It looks fantastic !

Re: Spring Show Comments

I like them both Matt! It's so hard to get a formal upright from nursery stock, most of what I find has just enough
of a bend to nix the deal. The tread grafting on the Maple is interesting. I've never done that before. Maybe when you have time you can tell us how much fun it was!

Bonsaial1 or anyone else,

Where's a good source for Chinese Yixing Ware pots? I want to get some.

Brian, that is a very beautifull tree. Those are some honkin blossoms. They look to big for the tree

Re: Spring Show Comments

BonsaiAl's right the blossoms seem way out of praportion. I wonder if there's a way you coud fix that problem next season.

Short of increasing the tree size by several orders of magnitude, no, there's not a way to fix that next season.

Fruits and flowers basically don't reduce; the aesthetic associated with satsuki has been adjusted accordingly. So yes, the flowers are out of proportion if one were to scale up the tree - but they're a very good size for a satsuki azalea bonsai. I think Al meant (but let him clarify; if I remember he correctly he doesn't need nobody to speak for him ;-) ) his remark as a complement rather than as a critique of the tree.

Re: Spring Show Comments

WOW Crow, you got a memory like a steal trap. But, you are right. I must say that I think this is a beautifull tree in that shroud of blossoms. You are right, the flowers will not reduce that much. They may reduce over time about 5% but that is it.I think the shape of the blossoms is what make them seem so large. Thanks for setting Adam straight. Thats what I need someone to take my heat!! AK
