Re: Spring Show Comments
Thanks, Al! I've fallen in love with this particular (set of) species. This tree started it all for me, but the thing that really did it was walking for the first time through the Olympic Rainforest here on the Washington state coast. They grow amazingly, there.
In addition to a few trees in various stages of development, I have a few dozen seedlings of various sizes. My long-term plan is to try to figure out how to capture the essence of their grow habits in the rainforest here. More on that soon.... |

Re: Spring Show Comments
When the discussion about the Gallery was started somebody raised the question about those of us that don't have stands or accents plants but do have a couple decent trees. Should we post them, or are we going the keep the Show classy? My feelings certainly won't be hurt if the answer is "no" but I will be glad to do my part.

Gentemen:
I am only a beginner and have nothing of this caliber to show. However, I am in awe of your work and take great delight in studying your pictures. Perhaps the day will come when I can make a humble offering. Thanks, Al, for starting the thread! Nipper |

Re: Spring Show Comments
Looking over the show, two plantings are especially pleasing to my eye: bonsaial1's accent planting accompanying the juniper in the crater pot, and Rene's trio of boxwoods.
The combination of accent plant, stand, and mat on the former are exquisite. And I just really really admire the latter because it takes relatively straightforward material and brings it together into a whole that is so much more than the sum of the parts. |

Re: Spring Show Comments
Rene: Great looking "victims" you have! I especially like that literati cypress.
Adam: As you may see in the pic I posted to the show, I made the simple stand myself at school. It is not as beautiful as Al's or the others, but it's made by me. That makes it special (with the thing that it happens to be my only one). Zeb |
