Rocky Mountain Bonsai Society Show - Denver

I had the pleasure of attending the Rocky Mountain Bonsai Society show at the Denver Botanical Gardens this morning. The show is heavy on pines and spruce, as you might expect. Lots of great ponderosa pines! It's a medium-sized show, but a high quality display. I asked how they managed all their wood and rice paper backdrops, and was told they have custom made shipping crates for them since they have to store them off site. Whew....what alot of work hauling backdrops! But they really make a big difference.

Here are a few pictures. As usual, I wish my photography skills would rise to the level of the bonsai skills on display, but no such luck.

Brian

Great show of collected material there, thanks for sharing I'm familiar with all but the last tree. Is it a wild plum (Prunus americana) ?

Actually, I think it's a cotoneaster.....nice tree. The pot is about 4 inches high.

Todd,

I'm sure we'll run into each other soon. I joined the RMBS over the weekend. I don't know how many evening meetings I can make during the week since I live 60 miles north, but I'm looking forward to the Saturday workshops. I'm also looking for local sources of good collected material, so we need to talk!

Cheers
Brian

Brian and Todd,
Hope to meet you both at RMBS. My wife and I are moving to Hot Sulphur Springs CO in Aug. If I can get my act together hope to make it to a meeting in Sept-it will be a long drive from Hot Sulphur. I have done extensive collecting in the upper Midwest(we live in Chicago area), and hope to do the same in Colorado.
