Droooool! That's certainly THE place to visit for bonsai. I usually manage to spend hours and get my hands dirty in plain landscape nurseries looking for one plant and there at Lodder... I'd probably have to put up a tent there If (or rather when) I do a Europe trip with my car that's definitely a place I will visit

By the way, is it hard to get Dutch citizenship?

The problem I find is it's VERY HARD/IMPOSSIBLE to just pop inside for ten minutes and browse. If you actually try to actually LOOK at the trees, rather than seeing them as fields of plants, you'd see maybe a hundred on every visit...meaning that by the time you'd seen all of them the small ones you first saw would have become big ones.

You don't need Dutch citizenship since Lithuania is Europe, so what you really need is just to live in Holland...need a Job?

To be honest its probably worth just saving up for the Ginkgo Awards 2007 and going over then for the full weekend.

Depends what you buy of course. You're not going to be able to bring and larger bonsai back on the plane, but smaller stuff that fits in hand luggage, pots etc should all be possible. The flights are considerably cheaper than the ferry. My mother's flying here with jet2 in June and it costs £64 ($112) total, all in. I just checked the ferry prices and it's £250+ ($480+) Hull/Rotterdam or £100 from Dover/Calais.

Ferry is not the cheapest, but by far the most realistic. Hull to Rotterdam - it's about 60km/35miles to Lodders (once in Rotterdam).

Oh, and news to me, apparantly you are now allowed to take your pet with you abroad from UK to Europe...

I just checked the prices on flights from where I live, rather expensive. And since I would travel with my girlfriend to also explore Amsterdam (if time permits ), the total price converts to some 4000-5000 km in fuel and Amsterdam is not that far Besides, a lot more bonsai stuff can fit in the back of my Legacy wagon than in Ryanair's baggage compartment

Regarding a job - thought about it, not ready yet (unless of course it's an offer one can't say no to )

Forgotten I'd started this thread.

Pootsie had asked to keep informed about how it was going - here it is:

I was there again today. I took 5 times more photos than last time I think and certainly spent more money than two years ago...

Man that place is huge. Seems like you'd almost have to decide on a species, size and style before even setting foot inside, just to keep a visit under ten hours.
