Mr. Walter Pall visited Croatia

This weekend of May 5 and 6, organized by the Dalmatian Bonsai Club, were held
"Days of Bonsai in castle Vitturi", were we hosted international bonsai master Mr.Walter Pall. This manifestation could be called the first South-East-European-Bonsai-Convention, which from now on should be traditional. Convention gathered together bonsai enthusiasts from Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic of Montenegro.

Event included bonsai exhibition, Mr.Pall's demonstration and workshop.
On demo he worked on Phillyrea latifolia, black pine, and hornbeam (Carpinus orientalis).

His impressions could be seen on Walters travelogues blog (16 posts):

Thanks Marija for sharing this event,

It looks like it was a very memorable one. I am happy to see new local species introduced in the list of great material, they are really promising finds. It is also refreshing to see a whole group of young participants, I wish that this was also the case here in California.

California has a Mediteranean climate, and the species mentioned would certainly do very well here.

Bonsai enthusiasts around the world are really lucky to have Walter, who is traveling everywhere to share his passion.

Marija,

Everyone certainly seems to have had a great time and clearly a worthwhile experience all round. The demo trees looked to be of a very high quality indeed and in support of that I was interested in Walter's final comment on the blog and I quote:

"American organizers look at this! They gave me all the demonstration trees as main fee plus some extra. No such outlandish thing as raffling off a demo tree. I am not the only one who really hates this custom which is ONLY good for the treasurer."

Unquote

Well Walter, if you ever want to come to my house for a day - you can have all my trees.

:-)

Marija,

Really great of your weekend with Walter...

What a gold mine you sent him off with.
