The sale area was fantastic, and there was lots to see. Many plants found their way into new homes saturday, and I hope they all make it.
Ripsgreentree was going crazy, and could not keep up with the people trying to hand him money. Making change was almost impossible, and everyone wanted their new plant fast, so they could get home to put it on the TV! Hah! Rip sounded like a carnival barker, and had a great time. The large redwood was going for only $150.00, and the Hollywood juniper was going for $75.00. I was tempted to buy both. I decided against it due to having a house rented this weekend at the coast. I need to buy dinner out you know! The rest of the stuff went for $3.00 to $50.00 and everywhere in between.

Eds. note: In the last picture of theat group, just a little right of center in the back row was a sweet little Hokkaido Elm. Someone last month was talking about them, and this was great deal. I think it was going for around 40.00 bucks. A steal!
OK, At about 10:00 AM Ted Matson showed up. Ted does workshops for the Hanford group on a fairly regular basis. We have him 4 or 5 times a year. This was to be a workshop/demo. The demo part was on a large overgrown double trunk Foemina juniper. The tree had been the subject of a class with the late Melba Tucker. Ted went on to tell us that he aquired the plant due to passing of the owner and the spouse wanted to Ted to use the stock as instructional material. I thought that was a great way to use this material for the betterment of everyone and still make the original owner proud. Ted primarily used this tree as an exercise in wiring old brittle branches. He showed us how to anchor wire and how to maximize wire through wiring two branches with one wire. Mostly basic stuff, but its the trip along the way and the interesting stories from Ted that make the day wizz by. The final design is to be a flat top Cypress looking tree from the Monterey, Ca. area. Due to the workshop with the individual club members, the tree was not finished. He promised to bring it bacjk and show us the finished tree later this year. I will show you when I see it. A couple of the members getting the once over by Ted. The guy in the last phot is Gary Biggs. You know the guy that posts here once and awhile with the far out sense of humor. Just look at him, now you see where he gets it!

I will bite.
A. a slight tilt to the right bringing the apex over the base....and/or B. a chop above the highest wired branch, either leaving some for jin, or completly re- moving it, thus using the wired branch as the new leader. Paul

1. Bring the branches in and develop clouds
2. Thin the apex 3. Jin the front of the trunk or just turn it in to a Bunjin/Literati by removing all the lower branches bar 1 and thinning the apex, adding a jin down the trunk. anywhere near?
