Mid Atlantic Bonsai Societies Spring Festival

Hi all, this is posted on the 'Events' board but I was interested if anyone will be going! I realize a very large percentage of our list is not local to East Hanover NJ, the site of the event. I plan on being there for Saturday, hope to arrive early in the AM and stay till the evening. The Festival is from Friday April 19 through Sunday April 21. I think it will be a great place to meet various northeast bonsai clubs and their members. It would be nice to see some of you there, be able to put a face and personality to a web name!

Soooooooooooo, whos going!!

Re: Mid Atlantic Bonsai Societies Spring Festival

With only 10 days to the Mid-Atlantic, am I to assume that no one from this list will be going? I thought that most of the members of the list were not from the North East, but it seems that I may be the only one......Nah...your out there!

Jay-
Where is East Hanover?
I live in Philadelphia, so i'm close to cherry hill and camden, but i'm assuming east hanover is farther north...
Have you been to this festival before, and if so what were your impressions?

Re: Mid Atlantic Bonsai Societies Spring Festival

Hi Urb, East Hanover NJ is near Morristown off route 287. I have not been to this (or any) gathering. I want to meet the people I have talked to on this forum and on the IBC. In addition I plan on looking into joining a club, if I can find one within easy visitation of my home. I know there will be many vendors there! To my Knowledge, Bill Valavanis, Chase Rosade, Dale Cochoy,Yasuo Mitsuya, Dan Barton, Ed trout, and Kathy Shaner are some of the names that will be there. Some are giving lectures, Demo's and some are there with product. I think it is a $5.00 charge per day. Hope this helps

Re: Mid Atlantic Bonsai Societies Spring Festival

Sounds Interesting. I went to the Philly Flower show this year just to see the Rosade exibit. It was really well done, however i must have gone on a bad day, because in the 5 hours i was there, no one was there at the exibit to speak to. I've been planning to make a little trip out to new hope to get some stuff, perhaps chat with Chase if he's around. Anyways, i'm off on a tangent...
The festival sounds pretty cool, i'm going to see if i can work it out to get there. Morristown is kinda a hike, but I need to go out and get some first hand experience at this stuff. (everything i know and have done regarding bonsai has been from reading books, magazines, more books, and internet stuff). Maybe I'll see you there.

Re: Mid Atlantic Bonsai Societies Spring Festival

Urb, Hope you make it. I will be there Saturday, most of the day. It is about a 1 to 1 1/2 hour trip for me so I'll just go Saturday.
Let me tell you if you can get first hand advise, and help...DO IT! I went up to Rochester earlier this month to pick up some trees from Bill Valavanis. He invited me to a Lecture/Demo at the Upstate Bonsai Society that he was giving. That evening was worth more than any book or magazine!!
I will post to this board on Friday the 19th with a meeting place or what I'll wear or something so as to make a meet possible to those interested!

Re: Mid Atlantic Bonsai Societies Spring Festival

OK...its Tuesday and I haven't heard from anyone directly re:the Mid-Atlantic. Urbansai has said he may come but everyone else seems to be no shows. I can understand some of us live a long way away.

To find me, I ordered a 'BonsaiTalk' hat that I will wear if it arrives on time, if not, I am tall 6'4" and have a full beard. I will be there on Saturday most of the day.

Urb if you purchased that tool set and are looking to sell a couple of pieces bring it along, I may be interested!

See you there, whoever shows!

Re: Mid Atlantic Bonsai Societies Spring Festival

OK!!! The hat arrived. A tan one as requested. If you come look for me! By the way, the hat is very nice and will be used for more than this event! 100% poly so it should be a great warm waether hat!
